We had our monthly Petaluma Craft Mafia Meeting last night. And in this case, I use the term "meeting" very loosely. Normally we are all right down to business, discussing options, making decisions, and drinking coffee at a restaurant or member's house. But since most of us had never been to Grahams Country Crafts before, let alone had a meeting there, we were a little too distracted by the magical, crafty wonderland to get any real business done. Unless you count painting cookie jars and sewing hair onto plushy horses real business. And actually, we kind of do.
Graham's is literally a barn full of craft supplies. There is a whole room full of ceramics, just waiting to be painted.
I soo want to paint one of these dogs. But while it would be a really fun project that would help me improve my detail skills with painting, at the end of it I would have a $50+ life size ceramic dog that would probably scare people that walked into my house and be a pain in the butt to pack when I move house. So, maybe not.
But check out the ribbon! I am quite certain that almost all of these were made in decades long gone.
And the wood, hand cut on the premises.
And then, there is the classroom. It's a giant room with two banquet sized tables, a wood burning stove, and a 180 degree view of the beautiful countryside.
In honor of my grandmother, I decided to paint something ceramic. I wish I would have known about this place before she died, and I wish she would have come out and visited me in California so we could have gone together. This place would have been heaven for her.
I found probably the tiniest ceramic piece in the whole store. He made me giggle.
I plan on giving him eyeballs and a glittery glaze once he is dry.
Marla and Cheryl were twinsies and each painted the same ice cream cone cookie jar.
Charissa gave her stuffed horse some hair.
And we all enjoyed giant cupcakes, a black cat called Boo, and good chats.
Thanks, Helen, for sharing your space and love of craft with us!

What a blast! So happy you all could come out and finally meet Helen! Heart! What a fantastic blog, Jaime. We love you too!
:)

C.
