When I was a kid, my Dad worked a lot of late nights and went on a lot of business trips. One day, when I was very very small, he came back from an event with a very special present for me: a stuffed lion. He told some sort of story about how he won it in the conference giveaway after he announced that he wanted to give it to me. Lionell has protected me from scary night time monsters ever since. Seriously, he is still on my bed.
I was a kid, probably around 10 or 11, and my mom and I were at a little fair that our local pet store was having in their parking lot. We probably went because we needed to buy bird seed, or I wanted to see the bunnies, or something like that. A local radio station was there, and they announced that they were giving away free tickets to Marine World. The qualification? You had to have animals on your t-shirt. I looked down at my shirt. There was a giant globe on it with animals walking on the green parts, things swimming in the blue parts, and even more things flying above them all. I ran over to the booth to show them my shirt without even telling my mother where I was going.
I won the tickets.
And then we went to the park, saw the Orca Whale show, and when they asked for a volunteer from the audience, they chose me! I was "kissed" by one of the Orca Whales.
I can't recall a single other story in which I won something, so I think that maybe I only have luck winning things if animals are involved. But that doesn't mean that I can't give things away... right?
This weekend, I am giving away one of the new coffee sleeves that I just put up in my shop.
To enter, leave a comment in this post telling me about a time you were lucky. The winner will be chosen on Monday evening and will get to choose which coffee sleeve he/she would like.

i think i am most of all lucky in love. my hubs is the perfect man for me to spend my life beside. i wouldn't have it any other way, and i think i'm lucky to have found a love like that.
ps. these sleeves are adorable!!
thanks. :)

Aw, how am I to beat the comment above me? That's sweet! :)
Haha, I remember being about 7 or 8 and I heard that my favorite cartoon was being cancelled. :( So I decided to write them and inform them that they couldn't cancel it & how much I loved the show. I had finally forgotten about it when I got home from school and found a HUGE package waiting for me! Apparently they though it would be cool to send me tshirts, toys, posters...anything they could fit into the box that had to do with the show (it was, lol).

I was lucky when my (now) boyfriend decided 8 months ago that he should write to me on Facebook after not talking to me for 4 years (when I moved away). Even though we are in a long distance relationship and only see each other once a month, I feel absolutely, fabulously lucky. Thank God he took that leap in January; look what it brought us! :)

Luck isnt really a part of my family's vocabulary. I wouldnt go far as to say we are cursed, mostly because superstition isnt in that vocab. either. But one incident that occurred particularly recently, qualifies as lucky.
I was late meeting a few friends for a hockey game, and was nearly side-swiped by a truck in an equally huge hurry. And when I got to the hockey game I found I had wonderful seats, which put my bad mood at ease. Apparently, when I went to go get a soda a few giddy girls tried to steal our prime-location seats. Unlucky for them, the puck was slap-shotted above the barrier and decked one in the mouth. She ended up with stitches, two broken teeth, and a concussion to boot.
That's what I call luck.
Anyway, I love the coffee cosies.

My luck usually comes its own irony.
A few years ago I was thrilled to have won an all inclusive vacation for 4 to a nice resort in Jamaica from a famous orange drink company.
All the waivers and paperwork was signed and submitted, and I bought a wardrobe just for the trip.
One by one, all 3 of my invited guests had family crises that prevented them from going. I did not want to go to a beach resort alone at that time, and the trip could not be rescheduled, nor could I change my companion list.
I had to forfeit the prize.
I STILL have the unused (and unusable) plane tickets and travel voucher stashed in my drawer.
sigh.

cuuuute cozies! :D loooove the doily!
i'm a fairly lucky person... but the biggest prize i'd ever won was a 42" hd flat screen tv...
i was approached by a coworker who was selling tickets for our local childrens home fundraiser and i couldn't refuse.. (kiddos are so close to my heart!) so i purchased 6 tickets for $5... with 1000 tickets being sold.
a couple weeks later there was a commercial on about the superbowl that was coming soon and i just thought about that tv - told my hubby that i got some tickets... the next day i found out thru the radio that i was the winner of the grand prize!
(shhh i think my husband was more excited that i was beings it was superbowl wknd and now he got to have a party with a big screen! :D)
xo.
