Last week I made an uber exciting announcement over on my other blog- at the last minute my boyfriend had flew 11 hours just to be with me on Valentines Day! We spent the week together and had a totally amazing and chill time. We didn't do anything too spectacular... even doing mundane things like cooking spaghetti is fun when I get to do it with a person I never see and love so much.
I took a number of pictures while he was here, but this is my favorite one.

My feet, Ashley's feet, and my dad's feet. We're standing in the middle of a (new?) art installation in North Beach. There are blank books hanging above our heads, and the words that fell out of them are carved out by our feet. It's not easy to take a picture of six feet in the dark, especially when your dad is being goofy about how he wants to position his feet and your camera's screen is on the fritz so you can't even see how well the photo did (or didn't) turn out. I took one photo, and fondly acknowledged the "I can't wait to see this photo" anticipation I remembered from the days of film.
I love quirky, blurry, dark, and imperfect photos. I love taking photos of random things that other people think are unimportant. I love taking photos this way in the same way that other people love taking perfectly composed, crisp, poetically lit photos of "important" subjects.
Both approaches to photography are beautiful and important, but I hold fast to my style. It's the way I love to capture the beautiful little bits of life that I revel in and hold dear to my heart.
