It's probably a little late to write about the Oscars on Blogosphere (really, it was less than 48 hours ago, I swear!) but I am going to do it anyway, because this is a really big deal for me.
I think I am finally over my issues with Angelina Jolie.
I never had any right to have any issues with her, really. Other than the fact that I am delusional and secretly think that Rachel is really my friend, I have no right to hate. But I always held a grudge for some reason.
But when they cut to her and Brad welling up as Heath Ledger's family accepted the Oscar on his behalf... all past wrongs were forgotten. My dear, sweet Heath managed to bring Angelina and I together in the end, somehow.
By the way, I realize how mental I sound in this post. Please don't go and throw me in a girl's mental hosiptal...

Last week I made an uber exciting announcement over on my other blog- at the last minute my boyfriend had flew 11 hours just to be with me on Valentines Day! We spent the week together and had a totally amazing and chill time. We didn't do anything too spectacular... even doing mundane things like cooking spaghetti is fun when I get to do it with a person I never see and love so much.
I took a number of pictures while he was here, but this is my favorite one.

My feet, Ashley's feet, and my dad's feet. We're standing in the middle of a (new?) art installation in North Beach. There are blank books hanging above our heads, and the words that fell out of them are carved out by our feet. It's not easy to take a picture of six feet in the dark, especially when your dad is being goofy about how he wants to position his feet and your camera's screen is on the fritz so you can't even see how well the photo did (or didn't) turn out. I took one photo, and fondly acknowledged the "I can't wait to see this photo" anticipation I remembered from the days of film.
I love quirky, blurry, dark, and imperfect photos. I love taking photos of random things that other people think are unimportant. I love taking photos this way in the same way that other people love taking perfectly composed, crisp, poetically lit photos of "important" subjects.
Both approaches to photography are beautiful and important, but I hold fast to my style. It's the way I love to capture the beautiful little bits of life that I revel in and hold dear to my heart.
You can see more photos from our adventures together here.

...last night while watching the Grammys if I hadn't spent all my money at the craft store on Thursday night. (Note to self: post Happy-Hour trips to the craft store may not be the best idea ever).
A wee bit random? Possibly, at least on the style front. But each artist above is either a young woman or British. Three of them are both, in fact.
Did last night's Grammys get you excited about any new music?

Do you have any freakin' clue what you're doing to me here?

No, probably not. And actually, I am kind of glad that you don't know me that well, considering all I know about you is that you have pink mascara wands and hot lipstick that I buy because it is advertised with a British accent.
See? I buy things just because they remind me of my "other" favorite country! Do you sense my dilemma?

I kind of want to get Ashley this t-shirt for Valentines Day.
Except for the fact that he'd never wear it, and I'd think it was way funnier than he would.
When we first met, we had a really long conversation about whether or not he could pull off a purple shirt. He thought yes, I thought heck no.
Other than conceeding the purple shirt point, it's really more of a gift for myself than him, so maybe I should just buy it for myself instead?

Yesterday I was cranky because I found out Paris Hilton is releasing a "Creativity Collection" AKA, a line of crafting supplies.
Today, I am overjoyed because the Red Velvet Art online shop has opened! I have been looking forward to this day since the project was announced in November.
The Red Velvet Art Store is a "new dream" for my crafty hero Elsie Flannigan. She and her cadre of paint, string, and guitar wielding friends have beautiful accessories, paintings, prints, music, and other crafty goodies in the shop.
The first thing I want to order are these:
Heart Shaped Sunglasses (white). And don't you love the little dashes that highlight the item as your cursor rolls over it? I think I might also want the Cute Nerd Glasses (black).
There are so many awesome things in this shop, and I imagine that more and more new, cute, indie goodies will have the store bursting at it's hand sewen seams once it has been open for more than three seconds.
Congrats to Elsie, and the rest of the Red Velvet Art gang! : )
